Writer's Block

Today, I am suffering from writer's block. My head is so full of thoughts and concerns that I can not even put them into a plausible single point of view. The more I read, listen to 4 TV news programs and view the online news, the more anxious I become.

I fear that my country has become a dangerous, selfish and malicious place that I no longer recognize. I never thought I would ever see a day when my grandchildren would be subjected to drills during the school day to prepare them for an armed intruder. I know it is good that they will be prepared, but my grandson has a tearful frightened expression on his face as he enters the building on almost a daily basis; he is seven. His sense of security has been violated - not by an intruder, but by the very ones who are there with him and want to keep him safe.

The Boy Scouts are being pressed to accept gays and allow gays to act as leaders. Do we really need to ask first and second graders their sexual preference as they sign up for Cub Scouts? Where is the need for a leader to express to me his/her sexual preference? Does it really have anything to do with scouting? How does that advance the gay movement? Unless a leader is there to molest the boys; do we really need to know. If you are gay and really want the world to know, wear a sign or button or patch or something. I will accept that you are a good person until you prove me wrong.

Elections and Campaign reform must be called for in Ohio. WE must protect Ohio elections. Some do not think we should require ID because "some people don't drive". That is a such a denial of the facts and an actual attempt by Dems to keep people from voting while blaming the Repubs for it. You don't even need a driver's license; you can use a state ID card, a utility bill with your name and current address, your lease and several other things to prove that you are who you say you are and that you live in Lorain County, Ohio. It is not rocket science!

My children tell me that I have led a very sheltered life. I prefer to think that I have led a life filled with great people, good things, faith to carry me through the rough times, tolerance of others and a bundle of love. I was never afraid to ride my bike all over town; the pool, school and the store my parents owned. Now, as I find myself trying to enlighten them about where their tax dollars are going, their eyes glaze over as the reality and enormity of the situation sets in. Now who has been living a sheltered existence?

None of us have the luxury to live as though nothing is wrong any more. Something wicked is here and only facing the issues head on will we be able to restore this country. The answers can be found in the Constitution. That document that Congress has ignored for 40 years or more.

We have farmers that can feed the world; why are they being paid not to produce? We have the best manufacturing skills in the world; why are the jobs not here? We have an abundance of gas and oil reserves right here; why are our gas and energy costs skyrocketing? We have a Congress and Senate full of career politicians that have conspired against the People and brought us here; why do WE put up with that? The President, and his gang of nutty professors will be out soon; why did we re-elect him in the first place? Jay Carney is so far left, he actually leans left when he gives his press briefings; can someone help him before he falls off camera?

So many thoughts and concerns packed in my little brain that I can hardly express them, prioritize them or envision a plan of action. But, I am working on it!

2014 is just around the corner and 2016 will be upon us before we know it. Please, get off of that sofa and out of your recliner. Get involved now.

If you don't think you are over taxed and under represented; I will pray for you!
