CSpan1 mentioned, in passing as the moderator read the New York Times, the tax increase that reaches 99% of American workers as part of this magnificent "fiscal deal".

(Forbes.com) So, there you are - Your social security tax will rise to 6.2% on all incomes up to the first $113,000. Anyone, working for a pay check, will have to get a 3+% raise just to maintain the same take home pay amount as you had last week. In other words, your 2013 raise is gone before you get it! Again, Harry and Mitch lied, to the average Joe in America, when they declared that this deal protects 99% of American workers from any tax increases.
I have to laugh when I hear folks say, "Everything should be on the table", when talking about spending cuts. Politicians see "everything" as anything except the 20 tax hikes in Obamacare, farm subsidies, energy subsidies, green business investment, foreign aide, government wages and pensions, immigration protection for illegals, research grants, education grants, pork spending to repay campaign cronies, welfare expansion, medicaid expansion, unemployment continuance, tax credits for businesses creating jobs in other countries and employing foreign workers here and you can probably add more. Career politicians go immediately to social security and medicare instead.
A fiscal cliff "deal" that increases spending by $40+ dollars to every $1 in revenue increase really clears the muddy water of the creek for me. We, the People, who have been asking for spending cuts for five years or more, are being ignored by the leadership of both parties. Tax and spend, spend, spend is no way to govern.
There is nothing in this bill concerning infrastructure building. Ohio gas companies can not deliver much wanted natural gas to new customers. Our electric grid needs repair and expansion. Instead, our energy department, and EPA, wants to liquefy the gas and sell it on the foreign markets, shut down coal production and limit nuclear energy. Billions of our tax dollars are spent in these areas every year and we still have no affordable energy or are we independent of foreign oils. Follow the money!
